Bio

Welcome! I applaud you for taking steps toward better health and wellness and seeking information about programs that might help. There is a wealth of information available, and it can be overwhelming. As your health and wellness coach, I can help you sift through the recommendations, connect with your vision and values, make a plan, adopt new habits, navigate challenges, stay motivated, keep a growth mindset, and celebrate your successes!

I am passionate about the sciences and how they can be applied to health and well-being. In addition to being a health and wellness coach, I am also a registered nurse (RN) and have worked in an ICU and in dialysis. I have gotten to know many clients living with chronic illness, especially in the close-knit dialysis community. It is heartbreaking to realize how much suffering could be avoided if our healthcare system and the environment we are enmeshed in were more supportive of prevention and healthy living.

Prior to becoming an RN/health coach, I got a PhD in Neuroscience and worked in research labs for about 15 years studying brain, nerve and spinal cord injury and regeneration. Through that experience, I learned how to decipher research studies and understand their strengths and weaknesses.

I first became aware of functional medicine when my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. I read and studied Dale Bredesen’s ReCode approach and implemented it for my mom as well as myself, as I am also at risk. While it was started too late to help my mom, I have found it enormously helpful for my mental health as well as my energy levels and metabolism.

Though I am most knowledgeable about brain health, mental health, metabolic disease, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and longevity/health optimization, there are similarities at the core of every approach. Give the body what it needs for physical, mental, and spiritual health (such as good nutrition, quality sleep, reduced stress, appropriate exercise, a clean environment, and healthy social connections), and it can be amazing to see how well it can naturally heal and stay healthy.

When not working, I can be found out in nature rock climbing, meditating, hiking, snowboarding, or doing yard work. My husband and I enjoy traveling in our camper van and exploring new adventures.
